Greg Kelk from Topdrill Geotech - a geotechnical drilling and cone penetration testing company based in Tauranga, engaged RAZOR to design and develop a new website.
The goal was to create a modern, professional, and informative online platform that would effectively showcase Topdrill’s services and expertise. The website aimed to serve as a valuable resource for geotechnical engineers, project managers, and government agencies, providing clear information about Topdrill’s capabilities and experience. The new site also needed to feature strategic calls to action to drive client engagement and enquiries.
The key challenge with Topdrill’s website was balancing technical depth with accessibility.
Given the nature of their audience - engineers, construction and infrastructure professionals, and government agencies - the content had to be factual and authoritative while avoiding unnecessary jargon or complex terminology.
The objective was to craft clear and concise content that communicates Topdrill’s core values with professionalism, accuracy, and reliability, along with their commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Additionally, the design had to reflect the brand’s professional aesthetic, using clean layouts and strong visual elements to inspire trust and confidence.
Another challenge was creating visual appeal through authentic imagery. We recommended the client arrange a photo shoot with our in-house photographer to capture action shots, equipment, and team interactions, ensuring the photography complemented and enhanced the website’s clean design.

The website’s professional colour palette, consisting of silver-grey, black, and white with accent colours for navigation, reinforces Topdrill’s brand identity while providing visual contract. The use of bold, sans-serif fonts further contributes to readability and aligns with the brand’s logo, creating a cohesive and polished visual experience.
